- iPad with iPadOS 16.3 or newer
The latest version of Procreate for iPad requires iPadOS 16.3 or later to install. - Compatible iPad models
Procreate supports a wide range of iPads that can run iPadOS 16.3 or newer. Supported models generally include:
iPad Pro (various generations, including older 9.7″, 10.5″, 11″, and 12.9″ sizes)
iPad Air (3rd generation and later)
Standard iPad models capable of iPadOS 16.3
iPad mini models that support iPadOS 16.3 or later
Note: If your iPad cannot update to iPadOS 16.3 or later, you won’t be able to install the current Procreate version. Older iPads that can’t update beyond earlier iPadOS versions no longer support new Procreate releases.
Stylus Support
Procreate works best with a stylus such as Apple Pencil for pressure-sensitive drawing. Without a stylus you can still use Procreate, but many features like pressure control and palm rejection won’t work the same.
Recommended for Best Experience
A newer iPad with at least 4 GB of RAM provides smoother performance and supports features like more layers and better stability with larger canvases.
Running the latest iPadOS version available for your device helps ensure full compatibility and access to the newest Procreate features.
